Punta del Este
A Uruguayan Gem of Sun and Sea
Punta del Este is a very famous beach destination in South America. It’s located on a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, east of Montevideo, Uruguay (about 135 km away). This is where the Río de la Plata meets the ocean.
The coastline stretches for over 40 km, offering two distinct types of beaches: “Brava,” with strong waves for surf enthusiasts, and “Mansa,” with calm waters perfect for relaxing.
It’s a stylish place, where you’ll see elegant houses and buildings, as well as a wide variety of restaurants serving international cuisine and typical Uruguayan flavours, especially the famous grilled meats.
During the summer, Punta del Este attracts many visitors from Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, as well as from Europe and North America, making it the star seaside resort of the region. In winter, the town transforms and hosts important international congresses and conferences.
In short, it’s a perfect place to relax, admire nature and architecture, and enjoy very clean ocean waters.
